Wu Chun Chiao

WU Chun-Chiao is an award-winning interior designer and the founder and design director of Chiun Ju Interior Design, based in Taiwan. With over two decades of professional practice, his work focuses on residential and spatial design that balances poetic expression, functional clarity, and real-world constraints.

His design approach emphasizes spatial rhythm, proportion, and material dialogue, often exploring how curved geometries, light, and human movement interact within everyday living environments. Rather than pursuing formal spectacle, his projects are rooted in lived experience, responding to clients’ actual lifestyles, cultural context, and budgetary realities.

WU’s work has received international recognition through major global design platforms, including A’ Design Award, Asia Design Prize, and iF Design Award, reflecting a consistent commitment to design quality, ethical practice, and contextual relevance. His projects have been acknowledged for their refined spatial narratives, coherence between concept and execution, and their ability to translate abstract ideas into inhabitable spaces.

In addition to professional practice, WU is actively engaged in design research and academic inquiry. His recent research explores the relationship between budget constraints, design strategy, and international design evaluation standards, aiming to bridge the gap between practice-based design and academic frameworks. This research-driven perspective informs his design methodology, reinforcing responsible decision-making and long-term spatial value.

As a member of the International Design Club, WU seeks to engage in dialogue with fellow designers across disciplines and cultures, contributing to a professional network grounded in mutual respect, knowledge exchange, and sustainable design values. He views design not only as a creative act, but as a continuous process of learning, reflection, and responsibility toward society and the built environment.
Residence by Chiun Ju interior design

Exclusive Privilege Residence by Chiun Ju interior design The house is a perfect combination of classical and modern. The imported tiles on the living room floor and the marble pattern on the TV wall exude a sense of majesty from top to bottom. The painting in the study room is a blend of indigo and ink with gold trim, echoing the subtle luxury of the living room. Meanwhile, the irregularly oriented linear lights break the regularity of the grille. The seemingly unrelated elements overlap with the design team's delicate workmanship, giving the work a new interpretation. The rational and sensual aspects of life are perfectly expressed in the space.

Shared Space by Chiun Ju interior design

Sunshine Rhythm Shared Space by Chiun Ju interior design The symmetrical arcs in the interior lead the eye forward. The reception area is wrapped in a golden frame, and the perforated wall behind the counter shimmers with warm light. Metal, stone, and sky are interwoven and fused, like a deep, clear spring. The organic matter of nature and the cool texture nourish the deepest part of the heart. The power of inheritance comes from the reverence for life. The beehive-like design of the play area is based on the organization and continuation of natural life, with a pastel color palette and soft touch for children.

Salon by Chiun Ju interior design

Satin Hair Salon by Chiun Ju interior design Based on the atmosphere and impression consumers feel when they enter the space, the designer used curved shapes to echo the hair that falls during a haircut. Then the hairdresser tides the hair for the consumer, which resembles a white iron mesh made of interlocking wires. The hard iron mesh clings to the curved wall, softening the strong character of the building material. At the same time, the space is more clearly defined. The whole room combines modernity and simplicity to create softness.

Breath of Renewal Residential House by Chiun Ju interior design This renovation reimagines a thirty year old residence as a calm and wellness oriented home. An open plan and a gentle ceiling line connect living, kitchen, and dining spaces, guiding movement without visual noise. Cross ventilation and balanced daylight improve comfort, while concealed linear lighting keeps surfaces clear. Mirrors and modular storage define flexible zones for exercise and meditation. Durable low emission finishes and reused joinery reduce impact, presenting a replicable path toward sustainable residential retrofit.

Rippling Continuum Residence by Chiun Ju interior design The staircase serves as the emotional anchor and a vessel of memory. Linear lighting flows along its arcs, diffusing softly throughout the home. Straight light strips intersect curved ceilings, stairs, and cabinetry, creating a tension of rigid and soft, taut yet slow. Marble and wood reflections further choreograph light and shadow. The spiral staircase adds vertical depth, while the open plan maintains horizontal sightlines, linking living, dining, and kitchen areas into a seamless space where daylight and family interaction flow freely.
